Situation
Our winery is located in the heart of the Penedès designation of origin and in the middle of the Barcelona County CAVA area.
This beautiful area of Catalonia, located halfway between the cities of Barcelona and Tarragona, borders the Mediterranean to the south and the spectacular and unusual massif of Montserrat to the north.
It is a geographical area specifically suitable for the cultivation of vines.
While the massif of Montserrat protects it from the cold winds from the north, the proximity of the sea acts as a moderating element of temperatures. Typically Mediterranean climate.
Family tradition
The ancestors of the Giró Ribot family are intimately connected to the Penedès region by ties that go back to several generations of wine growers and producers of wines, cavas and spirits.
During the last decades of the last century, the Giró Ribot family wanted to specialize in the production of cava, transforming the century-old distillery into a flagship winery.
It was the friendship of two families, Catalan and French, who, merging their roots, created Caves with the best of both cultures.
